As mentioned by the Student Council President at the Home/School meeting last Tuesday, students may wear jeans tomorrow, Friday, October 21 for free! I apologize for the short notice; a note will be sent home next month.
The students of St. Therese School recognized this important month with a week-long set of various activities to raise awareness of the fight against breast cancer. Throughout the week of October 11-14, students raised $458.80, which will be donated to Rush-Copley Breast Cancer Support Group. Our 3rd/4th grade students raised the most money: $200.39 and choose Ms. Colandrea for the Pink Make-over. Being a good sport, Mr. Dynes, Grade 3/4 student teacher, also participated in the Pink Make-over. Thank you to all the students and their families for donating to this very important cause.
All the students were involved with other Awareness activities, which included making cards for cancer patients, wearing pink stickers, bracelets, hats and pins.
October 24-28 is Red Ribbon Week. Students will have daily activities promoting ways to live a drug-free life:
Monday, October 24: “Red Ribbon Kick-Off Day”. Students will pledge to be drug-free and receive red ribbons.
Tuesday, October 25: “Don’t Slip into Drugs”. Students will wear slippers inside the school and make a list of all things they can do INSTEAD of drugs.
Wednesday, October 26: “Sock It To Drugs Day”. Students will wear red socks; draw a picture, write a sentence/paragraph/essay about what they will do instead of drugs.
Thursday, October 27: “Turn Your Back On Drugs”. Students will wear their uniform shirts/blouses backwards.
Friday, October 28: “Red Day”. This is a dress-down day, but red should be worn. Students will present their drawing or writing from Wednesday to their classmates.

Come meet the Principal, Mrs. Hawkinson and HSO members to hear about up-coming events and volunteer opportunities.
We are so blessed to have all of you with us at St. Therese School! Our school year began with an all school assembly and breakfast. Cereal donated by Mrs. Bowman (Post Foods), juice bags (Mr. and Mrs. Colandeau, and fresh fruit (Prisco Family Grocery Store). We are very grateful for your generous donations.
Following the breakfast, the students participated in a new school-wide program. which will enhance PBIS, “Don’t Laugh At Me”. This “Don’t Laugh At Me” is an anti-bullying focus, based on awareness of differences in personal appearance, ethnicity, religion, and personal beliefs. The curriculum is age appropriate with classroom and school-wide activities to reinforce throughout the year.
Registration will be Monday, August 8, 8 a.m. – 3p.m in the school office. All grades, Preschool – Grade 8, are open.
